In August 2020, the power output produced and imported for the whole system reached 21.56 billion kWh (on average 695.7 million kWh/day), the largest daily output reached 797.53 million kWh (on 27/8/2020) and the largest capacity of the whole system reached 38,280MW (28 August 2020). In the first 8 months of 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the national power demand grew lower than expected, the total power production and import of the whole system reached 164.05 billion kWh, increasing by 2.01% over the same period in 2019. In which:
+ Hydropower: 39.03 billion kWh, a decrease of 12.75% (equivalent to a decrease of 5.7 billion kWh) over the same period in 2019.
+ Coal thermal power: 88.87 billion kWh, an increase of 11.66% over the same period in 2019
+ Gas turbines: 24.96 billion kWh, decreasing by 16.29% over the same period in 2019
+ Oil thermal power: 1.04 billion kWh, an increase of 33.09% over the same period in 2019
+ Renewable energy (wind power, solar power, biomass power): 7.27 billion kWh. Solar power alone reached 6.39 billion kWh – surpassing the expected plan and 2.94 times more than the same period in 2019.
+ Imported power reached 2.33 billion kWh, decreasing by 4.03% as compared to the same period in 2019.
In the first 8 months of 2020, power produced by EVN and Power Generation Corporations (including joint stock companies) reached 91.58 billion kWh, accounting for 55.83% of the system's power production. In which, the total power output of power plants 100% owned by EVN (excluding EVNGENCO3 and joint stock companies) reached 52.38 billion kWh, accounting for 31.93%.
Commercial power output of the whole EVN in August 2020 reached 19.73 billion kWh, an increase of 3.14% compared to August 2019. In the first 8 months of 2020, the Group's commercial power reached 142.38 billion kWh, an increase of 2.39% over the same period in 2019. In which, power supplied to industry sector only increased by 1.22% over the same period of 2019; Power supplied to commercial services continued to decline - these are the two load components that have been most affected since the Covid-19 pandemic. However, power for consumption management still increased by 6.54% over the same period in 2019, one of the main reasons is the hot and prolonged hot weather on a large scale.
Regarding power transmission: In August 2020, the transmission is mainly in the direction of North - Central and Central - South. The highest transmission rate on the North-Central transmission system is 1,820MW and the Central-South is 3,465MW. Electricity transmission in 8/2020 reached 17.16 billion kWh. Accumulated 8 months of 2020 reached 136.69 billion kWh, increasing by 1.4% over the same period in 2019.
About customer service:
- The rate of customers making non-cash payment for electricity bills by August 2020 reached 61.5%. The percentage of electricity bills paid by non-cash manner for the whole EVN is 88.1%.
- Dealing with customer requests through service delivery channels:
+ As accumulated in 8 months of 2020, over 6 million electricity service requests made; in which, the percentage of requests to receive directly at customer transaction offices accounts for 5.08%; receiving requests through Center for Customer Care, Center of Public Administration, Public Service accounts for 94.92%; Particularly the number of requests received and resolved through the Internet channel (National Public Service Portal, website of customer care service, App CSKH, Zalo, etc.) accounts for 10.13%.
+ Providing services through the National Public Service Portal for 8 months received 258,561 requests (accounting for 77.43% of total requests of providing all public services by Ministries/Departments/localities on the Portal National Public Service), at the same time, in August 2020, EVN cooperated with the Government Office and VNPT to complete the conversion of electricity bill payment services onto the payment platform of the National Public Service Portal.
+The rate of receiving requests for electronic services by the whole EVN reached 70.76% (20.76% higher than the plan).
RSP installation: In the first eight months of 2020, the whole country has installed 25,706 RSP projects with a total capacity of 758.2MWp. Up to now, nearly 50,000 RSP projects have been put into operation with a total capacity of nearly 1,200MWp.
Regarding construction investment, in August 2020, EVN has directed units to make efforts, focus on implementing construction investment tasks, speed up the construction progress of on-going projects such as Thuong hydropower project, Kon Tum, expanded Da Nhim hydropower project, Se San 4 solar power project, the infrastructure of Quang Trach Power Center… Regarding power grid investment, as accumulated in the first eight months of 2020, 93 construction projects have been commenced and 84 projects of the 110-500kV power grid energized (including: 9 500kV projects, 10 220kV projects, 65 110kV projects), etc. Especially, to overcome the grid overloading of the areas of Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan because renewable energy sources (RE) have been put into operation simultaneously in a very short time, EVN and its member units have gathered all resources and implemented synchronous solutions in construction investment to speed up the progress of power grid projects for releasing the capacity of RE power sources. Recently, the units have put into operation 21 power grid projects, from 110kV to 500kV, to serve the release of RE power sources with a total length of over 750km lines and transformer stations with a total capacity of 5,025MVA, of which a number of key projects have been completed ahead of schedule, such as: raising the capacity of 500kV stations of Vinh Tan and Di Linh; increasing the capacity of Thap Cham and Ham Tan 220kV stations; completing and putting into operation new 220kV stations such as Ninh Phuoc, Phan Ri; Conducting new investment and upgrading 110kV lines in the region, etc. Up to now, the transmission grid infrastructure has basically satisfied the release of total capacity of 113 solar and wind power projects. Put into operation with a total capacity of over 5,700MW (including projects put into operation before 30 June 2019 and new projects put into operation in 2020).
Regarding power supply in rural, mountainous and island areas: On 21 August 2020, Central Power Corporation has completed ahead of the expected schedule and energized the project "Power supply by 22kV submarine cables for Nhon Chau island, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province”. Some working objectives and tasks of EVN in September 2020.
Due to abnormal weather changes as well as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, in September 2020, the load is expected to grow low, the average power consumption of the whole system is expected at 663 million kWh/day, maximum load capacity is estimated at 34,360MW.
Power system operation targets in September 2020: Exploiting coal-fired thermal power and gas turbine based on the optimal results of hydropower - thermopower; highly mobilizing hydropower plants with large water flow and ensuring water supply requirements for downstream localities; improving the availability of power plants. Power generation corporations and thermopower companies continue to require coal supply units of TKV and Dong Bac Corporation to ensure coal supply to meet the mobilization needs of the system. Safe and reliable operation of the transmission grids, especially the North-South 500kV system. Units need to well perform the task of preventing and fighting against Covid-19 pandemic and ensure stable power production and supply for production and business activities, as well as the daily life of the people; especially, provide safe and stable power supply for isolation, medical examination and treatment facilities of Covid-19 and suspected patients.
Construction investment: Completing installation of all panels and equipment for the testing of Se San 4 solar power project, ensuring the completion of power generation in October 2020; Continuing to focus on construction forces, overcoming difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to implement key transmission grid projects such as projects for connection and testing of BOT Thermal Power Plants of Hai Duong, Nghi Son 1, Van Phong 1; projects of releasing the capacity of RE resources; projects of releasing the capacity of hydropower sources in the Northwest, projects in service of electricity purchase from Laos; projects to ensure power supply for the Hanoi, the South and key economic regions, and so on.
In addition, in September 2020, EVN continues to direct General Corporations/Power Companies to prepare sufficient human resources and facilities, to increase direct response by 24/24; proactively responding to natural disasters, storms and floods, ensuring safety for people, equipment, electrical works and ensuring safety of dams, hydropower plants, reservoir downstream areas, etc.
