Power production of the whole system in January 2024 reached 23.97 billion kWh. In particular, the ratio of mobilization of some types of power sources to the total power output of the whole system is as follows:
+ Hydropower reached 4.79 billion kWh, accounting for 20%.
+ Coal thermal power reached 12.75 billion kWh, accounting for 53.2%.
+ Gas-turbine power reached 1.85 billion kWh, accounting for 7.7%.
+ Renewable energy reached 4.09 billion kWh, accounting for 17.1% (of which solar power reached 2.12 billion kWh, wind power reached 1.84 billion kWh).
+ Imported power reached 438 million kWh, accounting for 1.8%.
EVN has also organized the maximal operation of Hoa Binh, Thac Ba, and Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plants to supplement water sources at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and at the same time ensure power supply for pumping stations and in-field pumping operations to serve the rice cultivation of the Winter-Spring crop 2023 - 2024 for the Northern Midland and Delta provinces. At the end of the first water discharge (from 20 to 28 January), the total amount of water discharged is 1.893 billion m3, saving 688 million m3 compared to the plan (due to the basic flow on the rivers being supplemented by rain). The water area as of 29 January 2024 is 399,602/492,946 hectares, reaching 81.1% of the planned planting area.
Construction investment: In January 2024, the Prime Minister chaired a conference with 9 provinces to accelerate the progress of the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project. EVN worked with leaders of localities with 500kV circuit 3 transmission line passes through to coordinate and resolve problems, accelerating the progress of projects. At the same time, before and during the Lunar New Year, delegations of the Prime Minister and EVN leaders inspected and encouraged the construction force through Tet at project sites in the provinces, determined to complete items ensuring quality, savings, and safety; strived to bring the Quang Trach - Pho Noi 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project to the finish line by the schedule directed by the Prime Minister. In addition, for power grid projects to release renewable energy sources, in January 2024, the entire Nha Trang - Thap Cham 220kV power line and Vinh Hao, Vinh Chau 220kV substations were energized and connected. Overall, in January 2024, EVN and its units started 07 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 09 power grid works from 110kV to 500kV. Regarding power source projects under construction (such as Expanded Ialy Hydropower Plant, Expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant, and Phuoc Thai 2, 3 Solar Power Projects), construction progress has basically followed the assigned plan objectives.
For several other tasks, in January 2024, EVN reported to the Prime Minister on preparations to ensure power supply in 2024 and following years; Organized Conferences to summarize 2023 and deploy tasks in 2024, Conference on operating hydropower plants in the dry season in 2024 in the provinces of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and announce implementation power supply plan for peak dry season months (April, May, June, July) in 2024; Inspected operation, maintenance, repair, safety, fuel preparation for dry season operation in 2024 at power generation units under EVN and GENCOs, etc.
Some working tasks of EVN in February 2024
The objective of power system operation in February 2023: Continuing to ensure the power generation and supply for production, business activities, and people's daily life; Operating the power system safely and stably during the Lunar New Year holiday in Giap Thin 2024. Hydropower plants operate economically, regulate water levels according to the chart, meet downstream water supply requirements, and serve the rice cultivation of the Winter-Spring crop 2023 - 2024 phase 2 (expected water discharge time from 16 February to 21 February 2024) for the Northern Midland and Delta region. The total water discharge time is 5.5 days with the total expected water discharge volume of about 0.931 billion m3.
Power generation units strengthen inspection and consolidation of equipment, overcome defects, ensure improved operational reliability, improve power generation capacity of generating sets, and minimize unit failures.
EVN continues to coordinate effectively with TKV, Dong Bac Corporation, and PVN/PVGas to ensure sufficient fuel (coal, gas) for power production according to system needs.
Regarding construction investment in power sources, in February 2024, in addition to accelerating the construction progress of key power source projects, it is necessary to urgently complete capital arrangement procedures for the expanded Tri An Hydropower Project; Approving the technical design of phase 2 of the Bac Ai pumped storage hydropower project.
For the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project: Continuing to work with localities to complete and hand over the foundation locations and corridors of 03 projects; Completing the contractor selection for the Nam Dinh 1 - Pho Noi, Quang Trach - Quynh Luu and Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa 500kV transmission line projects; Accelerating the construction of other synchronous projects serving energization of 500kV transmission line projects (Thanh Hoa 500kV substation and connection lines, reactors, capacitors, etc.).
In the coming time, EVN will work with Phu My 2.2 and Phu My 3 BOT Power Plants on preparations for handover and report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on tasks related to the handover and reception of BOT power plants...
