Reinforcement of Hue 220kV Substation Project completed three months ahead of schedule

The Reinforcement of Hue 220kV Substation (in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province) Project was completed 3 months ahead of schedule. The Power Transmission Project Management Board (under the National Power Transmission Corporation -- EVNNPT) in collaboration with related units energized the project at 00:20 AM on September 30.

The 250MVA transformer at Hue 220kV Substation has just been energized

Specifically, an existing 220kV--125MVA transformer had been replaced with a 220/22kV--250MVA transformer; two additional 110kV bays had been installed; the control and protection systems of the substation had been added and improved in conformity with the newly installed equipment; the fire protection system had been renovated in correspondence with the scale of the newly installed transformer. Thus, the total capacity of the substation after completion of the project is 500MVA.

Due to the increasing power demand in Hue City, the Hue 220kV substation had been continually overloaded, therefore Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and EVNNPT had directed to accelerate the progress of this project. In the context of complicated developments of COVID-19 pandemic, along with storms No. 5 and No. 6 in the Central region which  greatly affected the construction process of the project. However, the units had made efforts to bring the project "to the finish line" ahead of schedule.
