Attending the meeting, on the side of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, there were also Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee Giang A Tinh; leaders of departments, agencies, and leaders of local authorities in the province.
On EVN's side, there was President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan; Vice President Pham Hong Phuong, and leaders of professional departments, leaders of the National Power Transmission Corporation and the Northern Power Corporation.
Ensuring electricity supply for socio-economic development in Lai Chau province
In recent years, EVN and its member units have ensured electricity supply for Lai Chau province with an average power sales growth rate in the period 2021-2023 of 8.72%/year; Of which, power sales in 2023 reached 254.58 million kWh, an increase of 8.7% compared to 2022.
EVN owns and is operating 02 large hydropower plants in Lai Chau province: Lai Chau Hydropower Plant (1,200MW) and Ban Chat Hydropower Plant (220MW). These two plants play an important role in providing electricity for socio-economic development while contributing about VND 1,000 billion per year to the provincial budget.
Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee committed to accompanying EVN to remove obstacles in power projects in province
EVNNPT and EVNNPC are investing in many power grid projects in the province such as the project to increase the capacity of Lai Chau 500kV substation (from 2 x 450MVA to 2 x 900MVA), expected to be completed by the end of 2024; 09 grid construction and renovation projects to improve capacity/scale of 110kV power grids with a total investment cost of VND 885 billion;
Regarding investment in medium and low voltage power grids, in 2023 there were 15 medium and low voltage projects with a total investment cost of VND 133 billion implemented by EVN and its member units. In 2024, 09 medium and low-voltage power grid projects are being implemented with a total investment cost of VND 67.5 billion, with the targeted completion and energization schedule on March 31, 2024. Considering the entire period 2021-2025, the total investment cost in medium and low voltage power grid projects of EVNNPC in Lai Chau province is about more than VND 480 billion.

Lai Chau province pledges to collaborate to remove obstacles in power projects
To have a legal basis for implementing investment in power projects, EVN requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct departments and agencies to urgently complete detailed documents in accordance with Decision No. 1585/QD-TTg on Lai Chau Provincial Master Plan for the period 2021 - 2030; promptly issuing decisions on investment policy approval, conversion of forest land use purposes, site clearance compensation, etc.
