Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan- Director General of Electricity Regulatory Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that, the information on the operation of the electricity market which was fully disclosed has contributed to enhancing the transparency and equality in the mobilization of power sources; created an open, equal and fair competitive environment among the participating units.
Also, it has created motivations for the Power Plants to be proactive in operating the units, shortening the maintenance, maintenance time, reducing the operation cost, proactive in price-offering, contributing to improving production efficiency, reducing power generation cost and improving the operating efficiency of the whole system.
In order to increase the number of the Plants participating in the electricity market in 2018 and in the years to come, the Electricity Regulatory Authority will regularly give guidelines to Vietnam Electricity and National Load Dispatch Centre to actively urge, inspect the new units and prepare conditions for the participation; simultaneously conduct research on the mechanism for bringing multi-purpose strategic hydro-power plants to the market, etc.,
The Electricity Regulatory Authority has issued Decision No. 95/QD-DTDL dated the 25th December 2017 on the list of Power Plants participating the competitive power market in 2018. Accordingly, there will be 81 plants participating in this market in 2018, including 21 thermo-power plants and 60 hydro-power plants.
The Electricity Regulatory Authority requires those plants to ensure that they shall meet all the conditions for infrastructure serving the market operation, operating license, power purchase contract with valid price to participate in the market in accordance with the applicable regulations.
