Speeding up Investment Progress to Bac Ai Pumped-Storage Power Plant Project

This is one of the directions of Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung in Document No. 120/TB-VPCP dated 8 June 2016 by the Government Office, announcing the conclusion of the DPM in a recent meeting with Ninh Thuan province.

At a meeting with Ninh Thuan province about overcoming drought, inspecting implementation status of key investment projects, transportation and irrigation infrastructure projects, visiting a number of residential areas suffering serious drought and working with leaders of Ninh Thuan Province, the DPM highly appreciated Ninh Thuan Province for having multiple synchronous and effective solutions to drought prevention and preparedness, hence limiting the consequences caused by drought, maintaining and stabilizing living conditions of the people.

According to the forecast, the drought situation is continuing and may last until August and September of 2016. Hence, drought prevention activities shall be continued to be steered and implemented vigorously.

For the immediate task, the DPM asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of industry and Trade to direct relevant units to work closely with local authorities in order to regularly check and evaluate water sources,  prepare the plan of using water from reservoirs, in which priority is given to water needs for living, drinking water for livestock, watering for perennial crops of high economic value.

One of the long-term missions requested by the DPM is that the Ministries and local authorities need to focus on the investment in key projects, speeding up Bac Ai pumped-storage power plant project, development of renewable energy such as wind power, solar power in order to exploit the potentials and advantages of the locality.
