President of EVN Member Council is elected to become a Deputy of National Assembly

Hanoi Election Commission has just passed the election result of the XIV National Assembly - tenure 2016 – 2021. Party Secretary, President of Member Council of Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) Duong Quang Thanh was 1 of 30 people elected in the XIV National Assembly of Hanoi.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh was born on 15 July 1962, his hometown is in Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province. Mr. Thanh has a Doctor degree in Economics and a senior level in political theory. He joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on 28 November 1990. He was appointed to be the president of EVN Member Council by the Prime Minister since March 2015.

Mr. Duong Quang Thanh ran for the position of National Assembly Deputy at election unit No.7 (including Quoc Oai, Chuong My, Thanh Oai districts) of Hanoi City.

His action plan performed before the election was praised to be in details and close to people’s life.

Specifically, as the President of EVN Member Council, Mr. Thanh focused on providing sufficient power for economic development and people’s life. At the moment, there are 99.85% of total communes and 98.88% of total rural households being connected to the national grid.

In Hanoi, for the past 5 years (2011 - 2015), EVN completed  and put into operation more than 1,100 power networks with a capital investment of VND 16,536 billion; all 219 communes participated in new rural development program reached criterion No.4 regarding electricity. Thereby, power supply within the city has been significantly improved, helping Hanoi to take the lead in the country in building new rural development.

In his action plan, the President of EVN Member Council focused on 3 points:

Firstly, it is to be a good representative of the people’s rights and benefits.

Secondly, it is to make plan and carry out efficiently the investment in Hanoi power network in the period 2016 – 2020, with the capital investment of VND30,000 billion. It is committed not to let power insufficiency occur; in case of local incidents, remedy shall be immediately conducted and full information shall be provided to residents. It is committed that criterion No.4 on power supplied for building new rural development shall reach 100% communes in Hanoi City. Contact Center (P: 19001288) shall receive all customers’ requests on power usage and handle them in a timely manner.

Besides, EVN will also carry out social security operation, power installation and fixation free of charge for the poor and policy households in the City.

Thirdly, it is to collaborate with local government to solve existing problems regarding traffic, waste treatment, environment and clean water.

Apart form being the Party Secretary, President of EVN Member Council, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh is also Member of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Central Business Block. He was granted the Second Labor Medal in 2013, the Third Labor Medal in 2004 and Nationwide Emulation Fighter in 2005.
