Central Control Room of Hoa Binh Hydropower plant
In almost 30 years of operation, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant gained great proficiency, not only to the National power system, but also serving the people’s living activities. With 200 billion kWh for the power system, the plant also participated in preventing flood to protect Ha Noi capital and the Red River Delta region, supplying enough water in the dry season to almost 500,000 ha of the Delta, serving agricultural development, industry and people’s living activities.
Moreover, Da River reservoir also properly ensures the demand for waterway transportation to facilitate vessels with over 1,000 gross tons to travel on the Da River, especially vessels specialized in transporting ultra-long and ultra-heavy goods for building Son La and Lai Chau Hydropower plants.
With the average energy output of over 9 billion kWh per year, at the moment, Hoa Binh Hydropower only produces about 7% of power output of the whole system, however, the plant still plays an important role in the national power generation. It is because all 8 units of the plant can quickly switch between working modes, thus the plant always undertake well the role in regulating frequency and voltage, contributing to stabilizing the power quality for the whole system.
