EVN Vice President Dinh Quang Tri was very pleased to welcome the USTDA mission to EVN and expressed his sincere thanks to USTDA for their supports extended to EVN during the past years in a lot of energy projects.
EVN Vice President presented to Ms. Sarah Randolph some information on the power growth status as well as the current generation structure of Vietnam. Currently, hydropower makes up more than 46% of the total installed capacity of the power system, coal-fired thermal, oil-fired, gas turbine plants account for more than 53% of the total output, the remainders are other energy sources such as wind power, solar power, etc.

Mr. Dinh Quang Tri said that the Government of Vietnam has been encouraging renewable energy development. Thus, EVN wishes that USTDA would enable EVN to study about renewable energy development and investment modalities in the USA; support EVN and share experiences in operation of wind power and solar power stations when these facilities are integrated into the national power grid.
Ms. Sarah Randolph highly appreciated energy development potentials in Vietnam and said that USTDA would be willing to cooperate with and support EVN in this area. It was hoped that the meeting would promote the cooperation relations between the two parties to new high level.
