To achieve the above-mentioned outcomes, EVNGENCO1 has overcome a lot of difficulties and challenges.
In the field of hydropower generation, since the end of 2015, water level has been much lower than the normal operating level in most of the reservoirs owned by the Corporation. Water inflows to these reservoirs in the first quarter of 2016 were low, therefore generation output decreased by more than 440 million kWh in comparison with 2015. At the same time, hydropower plants were mobilized to ensure water supply to downstream areas.
Meanwhile thermal power units of the Corporation operated safely, stably and met high dispatching requirements in the early months of the year. In the first three months, Duyen Hai 1 thermal power plant alone generated nearly 670 million kWh, 157 million kWh over the target (512 million kWh).
In the second quarter of 2016, the Corporation has planned to generate 5.943 billion kWh and paid much attention to the mission of supplying power to the South.
In order to meet high demands for thermal power plant mobilization, EVNGENCO 1 informed that they would focus on implementing solutions to ensure sufficient coal supply to thermal power units, thus raising the readiness of these units. Right in April, the Corporation will carry out dredging passages, water areas and turning basin of Coal import port of Duyen Hai Power Complex; implementing the package of increasing port capacity by 3,000 tons per day, etc.
Simultaneously, in order to develop renewable energy projects, in the second quarter, the Corporation will carry out procedures necessary for investment registrations of wind and solar power projects located in Tra Vinh and Ben Tre provinces, investing in solar power projects locating on surfaces of the reservoirs owned by the Corporation, etc.
