Mr. Dang Huy Cuong, General Director of General Department of Energy (GDE) as Representative of MOIT said that: “Developing renewable energy is one of the Government’s priorities to overcome challenges on energy used for socio-economic development in Vietnam. With the mutual expectation to develop infrastructure for the renewable energy sector in Vietnam, through this co-operation, we appreciate expertise and experiences of GE in developing wind power while minimizing effects to the environment and climate change”.

In response to this expectation, Mr. Pham Hong Son, Managing Director of GE Vietnam emphasized that: "With the professional ability of GE in producing and investing in worldwide wind power projects, with local experience that we have got from the very first wind power project in Vietnam, GE hopes to continue to receive support from the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and shall collaborate with Vietnamese partners to develop renewable energy efficiently and stably.”

Being one of the firms owning the largest portfolio of renewable energy projects in this industry, with the highest total installed capacity in the world of 370 GW, GE takes an important role in developing the first wind power farm in the Mekong Delta at Bac Lieu province. GE has supplied 62 wind turbines, with the total capacity of over 99 MW. At Phase I of the project, power generated has been connected to the national grid in June 2013.

In 2009, GE increased its investment by establishing wind turbine accessories factory in Hai Phong. The factory has created more than 600 jobs for local people and exported thousands of generators and wind turbine accessories which contributed to the global energy solutions.
