Sumitomo is one of the top leading Japanese corporations, which has a variety of business operations. In 2007, the Sumitomo Corporation Vietnam was established and since then, has invested into two thermal power plants in form of BOT (i.e. Phu My 2-2, Van Phong 1), and implemented a number of projects on power source and power transmission as an EPC contractor, etc.

EVN General Director Dang Hoang An highly appreciated the efficiency in power energy projects implemented by Sumitomo in Viet Nam. Especially, Phu My 2-2 Power Plant (capacity of 750 MW) is the first BOT project on power generation in Viet Nam that now has proven its importance in supplying electricity for the Southern region. And all other power projects that Sumitomo participated as the EPC contractor for such as Pha Lai 2 Thermal Power Plant, Buon Kuop Hydropower Plant, A Vuong Hydropower Plant, etc. have been taken into operation.
Regarding Project of Van Phong 1 Power Plant invested by Sumitomo, EVN General Director Dang Hoang An confirmed EVN’s endeavor to facilitate the negotiation of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) under the project.
Also at the meeting, both parties discussed about mutual concerns, namely the advanced technology for coal power plants to be selected, cooperation opportunity in the future, etc.
