The farthest outpost island in Quang Ninh province officially connected to the national grid

At 6.30 precise on 2 September 2020, at the Remote Control Center of Quang Ninh Power Company (Quang Ninh PC), Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Ninh province gave the order to energize Tran Island - the last island in Quang Ninh province powered by the national grid via submarine cable.

This event marked a historic milestone of Quang Ninh province, at the same time, started celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the National Day and the 15th Party Congress of Quang Ninh province for the term 2020-2025.

 

Representatives of Border Guard Command, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, High Command of Military Region 3, Quang Ninh province, Quang Ninh PC witnessed the moment of energizing

The project of supplying power from the national grid to Tran Island, Co To Island district was commenced on 9 January 2020 by the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province.

The scale of the project includes construction of nearly 20km of 22kV power line (of which more than 13.5km of submarine cable), three substations with a total capacity of 380kVA, with a total investment of VND397 billion.

Tran Island in Co To archipelago is the farthest island in Quang Ninh province, only 4-5km from the delimitation line of Tonkin Bay. On the island, in addition to military units, border guards and radar stations, there are also 12 households with 55 people. 

Quang Ninh province completed the target of supplying power from the national grid to 100% of households in remote, border and island areas, contributing to ensuring national defense, security and national sovereignty over the Northeast islands of the homeland, at the same time developing the tourism economy in the future.
