Building more efficient, smarter, and greener power grid

This was the theme of a workshop jointly organized by EVN’s Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation Department and Huawei on the morning of April 16 in Hanoi. The two sides discussed comprehensive digital transformation solutions for the power sector, based on advanced technology platforms and the application of artificial intelligence (AI).
The workshop was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, and was connected to EVN’s subsidiaries.

At the workshop, Huawei representatives focused on several key topics, including AI solutions for power grids, smart substations, transmission and connectivity infrastructure for the power sector, and a digital transformation roadmap, etc.
Mr. William Wang - ICT Solution Consulting Director for the energy sector at Huawei Vietnam - shared practical experiences from China’s power grid. In the context of a growing share of new energy sources placing pressure on system operations, AI applications are considered a key solution to ensure grid stability and flexibility.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Deputy Head of EVN’s Science, Technology and Digital Transformation Department - highly appreciated Huawei’s AI technologies. At the same time, the Committee also expressed interest in other aspects such as system security, the operational stability of processing chips, and the practical effectiveness of AI solutions when deployed directly to customers.
On this occasion, both sides spent considerable time exchanging and discussing technological solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and developing a smarter power system capable of meeting the demands of the new development phase.
