On April 25, at the headquarters of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in Hanoi, Vice President Vo Quang Lam hosted a working session with a delegation of leading Chinese energy enterprises, headed by Mr. Yang Kun, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council (CEC). The meeting took place as part of the official side events of the Vietnam – China – ASEAN International Energy Forum and Exhibition 2025 (VCAE EXPO 2025).

During the discussion, Mr. Yang Kun shared insights into China’s energy development roadmap, highlighting the country’s accelerated shift toward renewable energy. He noted that the growing share of renewables in the energy mix has posed increasingly complex challenges for power system operation, particularly in balancing supply and demand and ensuring grid stability.

The CEC representative emphasized that Vietnam is facing similar challenges as it builds its “new power system,” especially the intermittent nature of renewable sources. To address these issues effectively, he underscored the importance of regional cooperation among power enterprises, regulatory bodies, and technical institutions.

Mr. Yang reaffirmed CEC’s commitment to expanding collaboration and experience-sharing with countries in the region, including Vietnam, which has made significant strides in promoting renewable energy in recent years.

For his part, EVN Vice President Vo Quang Lam highly appreciated the technological capabilities and contributions of Chinese energy enterprises, as evidenced by various joint projects over the years.

He reaffirmed EVN’s dedication to strengthening cooperation in line with the strategic directions set by the two Parties and Governments. As Vietnam pursues high economic growth targets and a robust energy transition, EVN is deploying comprehensive measures to ensure a reliable electricity supply and system resilience.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to deepen information exchange, enhance policy consultations, and jointly participate in regional multilateral forums. These efforts aim to promote green energy development and support energy transition strategies tailored to the specific conditions of each country.
