On April 1 in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and China Power Engineering Consulting Group (CPECC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to leverage their respective expertise and strengths, enhancing cooperation opportunities in power project development.

Representing CPECC at the signing ceremony were Mr. La Tat Hung – Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Trinh Luong Kiet – Deputy General Director, Mr. Luu Trang – Director of CPECC International, and senior leaders from its member companies. On the EVN side, attendees included Mr. Dang Hoang An – Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – President and CEO, and Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh – Vice President.

At the event, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An expressed his appreciation for CPECC’s technical support to Vietnam Electricity in recent years. As a state-owned enterprise, EVN is responsible for ensuring a stable power supply for national economic development. Currently, EVN accounts for 38% of the total installed capacity and 41% of the total electricity output of the national power system. According to EVN leaders, the Vietnamese government is directing the revision of the National Power Development Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision toward 2050 (adjusted Power Development Plan VIII). The installed capacity of Vietnam’s power system is expected to reach approximately 236 GW by 2030, requiring significant investment in power generation to support the country's double-digit economic growth targets set by the Party and Government.

EVN leaders highly value the support and cooperation of CPECC’s leadership and believe that both sides will strengthen their effective collaboration in the coming period.

At the event, Mr. La Tat Hung, Chairman of CPECC, stated that since 2012, CPECC has signed 127 project contracts in Vietnam, with a total contract value exceeding $9.46 billion. He emphasized that Vietnam remains a strategic market in the group’s global investment expansion plan. This signing marks a new milestone in power sector cooperation between the two corporations and the two countries. CPECC looks forward to deepening collaboration with EVN across multiple areas.

Following the signing, both parties will develop a detailed plan and implement cooperation activities in 2025 and the following years.
