EVN discusses energy cooperation with CMEC and CHEC

On March 9 in Hanoi, Mr. Dang Hoang An – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – chaired working sessions with leaders of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and China Huadian Engineering Corporation (CHEC).

During the meeting with Mr. Fang Yanshui – Chairman of CMEC, he expressed strong appreciation for the development potential of Vietnam’s energy market and shared CMEC’s interest in expanding investment and long-term cooperation in the country. Potential areas of cooperation include new power generation projects, renewable energy projects, energy storage systems, as well as solutions for upgrading and rehabilitating existing power plants to improve operational efficiency and meet environmental requirements.

On the same day, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An also received and held a working meeting with the leadership of China Huadian Engineering Corporation (CHEC), a subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation (CHD). The two sides discussed several potential areas of cooperation in the coming time, including improving the efficiency of thermal power plants, researching carbon emission reduction technologies, and developing new energy sectors such as wind power, solar power, energy storage, and green hydrogen.

At the meetings, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An noted that the demand for investment in power system development in Vietnam will remain very large in the coming period in order to meet economic growth and energy transition requirements. EVN always welcomes capable international partners to participate in the development of power projects in Vietnam through appropriate forms of cooperation.
