Ministry of Industry and Trade issues Directive to implement solutions and tasks for ensuring power supply during peak 2026 and 2027-2030 period

Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung has signed and issued Directive No. 04/CT-BCT dated February 13, 2026, regarding the implementation of solutions and tasks to ensure power supply during the peak period of 2026 and the 2027 - 2030 period, and to accelerate the progress of key power source and grid projects (Directive No. 04/CT-BCT).

Accordingly, in implementing Directive No. 01/CT-TTg dated 18 January 2026 of the Prime Minister on tasks and solutions to ensure sufficient power supply for production, business, and people's lives during the peak period of 2026 and the period 2027-2030 (Directive No. 01/CT-TTg), on 29 January 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung chaired a working conference with energy corporations and general companies, and provincial People's Committees on the implementation of solutions and tasks to ensure power supply during the peak period of 2026 and the period 2027-2030, and to accelerate the progress of key power source and grid projects.

Based on the opinions of the attending units and with the spirit of continuing to ensure safe, stable, and continuous power supply, and preventing power shortages for socio-economic development and people's lives under any circumstances in 2026 and the coming years - especially as 2026 will host many important cultural, political, and economic events such as the Election of Deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term - the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade requires units to proactively, strictly, and effectively implement the following contents:

Regarding general tasks and solutions, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests that corporations, general companies, and related units thoroughly understand the task of ensuring sufficient power supply to serve socio-economic development in the 2026-2030 period, and that ensuring national energy security is a crucial political task; to promote a sense of responsibility, a leading and pioneering role, and to improve efficiency in ensuring national energy security in accordance with the directives in Resolution No. 79-NQ/TW dated January 6, 2026, of the Politburo on the development of the state-owned economy; and to promptly address difficulties and mobilize all resources to promote and complete power generation and transmission projects as quickly as possible.

Heads of units under the Ministry continue to uphold the spirit of individual and collective responsibility, coordinate closely and effectively, and decisively, resolutely, and comprehensively implement the assigned tasks and solutions in the Directives, Telegrams, and guiding documents of the Prime Minister, the Decisions and guiding documents of the Minister of Industry and Trade on ensuring power supply, coal and gas supply for power production in 2026 and the period 2027-2030, and other related guiding documents.

Provincial People's Committees emphasize the importance of ensuring power supply in 2026 and the 2027-2030 period as a particularly crucial political task, implementing it effectively and synchronously, coordinating with relevant units to carry out the solutions assigned in the Directives, Official Telegrams, and guiding documents of the Prime Minister, as well as the Decisions and guiding documents of the Minister of Industry and Trade on ensuring power supply in 2026 and the 2027-2030 period.

Directive No. 04/CT-BCT also clearly outlines the tasks and solutions to ensure power supply for Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group, and Army Corps 19, National Power System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO), power plant investors, provincial People's Committees, and functional units under the Ministry.
