This is a 2-circuit power line project nearly 130km long with 299 pole positions and 99 spans, passing through 2 districts Que Phong and Quy Chau Nghe An province, and 3 districts of Nhu Xuan, Nhu Thanh, and Nong Cong of Thanh Hoa province. Of which, the section through Nghe An province is 77.31km long, including 174 pole foundation positions. The section through Thanh Hoa province is 52.64km long, including 125 pole foundation positions. The entire route has up to 234 pole foundation positions affected by forests.
The project commenced in December 2021 and is an urgent construction investment project to import electricity from the Nam Sum Hydropower Plant cluster (Laos) to Vietnam to meet the growing load demand of the Northern region. At the same time, it concretizes the commitment between the Party and the Government of Vietnam and Laos in strengthening energy cooperation.
After completion, the project is ready to transmit power capacity from Laos to Vietnam to contribute to ensuring power supply for the North from 2024 and the following years, while contributing to ensuring the N-1 criteria, improving the reliability and safety of power supply to the regional grid.
