This was one of the key points emphasized at the workshop "Ensuring Energy for Ho Chi Minh City’s Double-Digit Growth Target," organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper on May 5 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The workshop was attended by representatives from Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC), and the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), along with representatives from state management agencies, experts, associations, and businesses.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City, in its role as the country's economic engine, is striving to promote numerous solutions to realize the goal of double-digit growth in 2026. This objective places a very great demand on energy infrastructure, in which electricity is the central focus.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tuan, Head of EVN Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation Department, speaks at workshop.

At the workshop, representatives from Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC), and the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) shared insights on the current state of power supply amidst rising electricity demand to meet national growth targets. They discussed solutions that EVN and its member units have implemented, are currently implementing, and will implement to ensure efficiency and synchronization, as well as practical actions to effectively carry out the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 10 on practicing electricity thrift and developing rooftop solar power combined with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)…

Also at the workshop, delegates agreed that the potential for rooftop solar power development in the city remains immense. This is an energy source that can be deployed rapidly with increasingly reasonable costs, making it particularly suitable for industrial parks, buildings, and urban infrastructure. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, there are already 22,355 rooftop solar systems installed in the area, with a total capacity of approximately 1,832MWp.
