The project involves the construction of two new 500kV overhead transmission circuits, with a total length of approximately 35.5 kilometers, connecting from the LNG Quang Ninh 500kV Substation to the interconnection point with one circuit of the existing Quang Ninh – Hiep Hoa 500kV transmission line.

The transmission route will pass through Cua Ong and Mong Duong wards, as well as Thong Nhat commune, in Quang Ninh Province. The routing plan for the LNG Quang Ninh – Quang Ninh 500kV transmission line was previously agreed upon by the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee under Document No. 1978/UBND-XD&MT dated 18 June 2025.

The project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation within 48 months from the date the investor is officially allocated or leased land.

Upon completion, the project will help evacuate capacity from the Quang Ninh LNG Power Plant, enhance transmission capability of existing lines, and meet growing electricity demand to support socio-economic development in northern Vietnam, particularly in the northern mountainous provinces. Additionally, the project will strengthen operational safety and stability of the national power system, enhance regional interconnection, and reduce power losses on the transmission grid.
