On May 23, at the construction site of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion project (Hoa Binh province), the Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1), along with related units, successfully installed the turbine runners (unit 1) into its designated position. This is an important technical milestone marking a new step forward in the equipment installation process of the project.

Turbine runners have been successfully installed into position.

The 110-ton turbine runners are ultra-heavy components imported from abroad. Its installation, carried out by the contractor Lilama, required precise coordination and absolute safety among all parties involved.

According to EVNPMB1, completing the turbine blade installation is a prerequisite for proceeding with the installation of the next critical components, such as the turbine pit cover, turbine shaft, guide vane ring, and turbine bearing. This also prepares for the assembly of the rotor for Unit 1, which is scheduled to be finished in June 2025.

The Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion project comprises two generating units with a combined capacity of 480MW. Once operational, the plant will add approximately 500 million kWh of electricity per year to the national grid, helping to boost peak-load capacity and enhance the safety, stability, and efficiency of the national power system.

The Power Project Management Board 1 and its contractors are working diligently to stay on schedule, aiming to commission Unit 1 before September 2, 2025, and complete the entire project by 2025.
