This is one of the important milestones towards completing the reliable operation of the unit, ensuring that the Plant will soon come into commercial operation, contributing to the power supply for the national power system. At the same time, it affirms the capacity of Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2) in performing the role of general contractor for a variety of renewable energy projects.
The plant is designed with a capacity of 2x10MW. The main fuel used is rice husk. When put into operation, the plant will supply the system with about 130 million kWh each year. This is currently the largest biomass power plant in the Mekong Delta.
The plant also receives investment capital funding from the Japanese Government’s Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), through the Global Environment Facility.
When put into stable operation, the plant will play an important role in supplying power from biomass sources, utilizing agricultural waste to produce energy, while creating jobs and promoting local economic development.
