The Vietnam Energy Outlook Report 2019 (EOR19) is a product of cooperation between the Board of Electricity and Renewable Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the Department of Energy under the Danish Ministry of Energy, Technical Infrastructure and Climate.
Vietnamese and Danish energy experts discuss about EOR19 Report
Specifically, the EOR19 provides 5 scenarios to consider different development trends with the lowest cost for Vietnam's energy system. These scenarios are not recommended development paths, but indicative, which gives an assessment on the topics appropriate to the Vietnamese context. At the same time, it also orientates policy makers and promotes discussions on green transition, provides the specific input for the preparation of the National Electricity Development Plan VIII as well as the National Energy Development Plan of Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade said that, with the technical support by the Department of Energy under the Ministry of Energy, Technical Infrastructure and Climate of Denmark and the direction of the Ministry Industry and Trade, the first Energy Outlook Report was developed and published in Vietnam in 2017.
Following this activity, in the Vietnam-Denmark Energy Partnership Program for the period of 2017-2020, the two sides continue to develop an Energy Outlook Report 2019. The Report was developed with good quality data, high-level models are used to calculate power development scenarios in particular and energy in general, providing useful information on power and energy system development in the short term and long term, in line with the orientation of the Government of Vietnam on sustainable energy development associated with the objective of environmental protection and energy security.
