Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant being invested by the EVNGENCO1, managed by Thermal Power Project Management Board No.3 - Branch of EVNGENCO1, is one of four plants of Duyen Hai power center, with a total capacity of about 4,500 MW, included in the Master Plan for national power development for the period 2011-2020 with the view to 2030 (Master Plan 7) approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No.428 / QD-TTg on 18 March 2016.
Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant in Duyen Hai Power Center with the area of 878.91 hectares was built in Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai town, Tra Vinh. Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant consists of two units with total the installed capacity of 1,245MW (2x622,5MW), yearly produced output is about 7.8 billion kWh.
Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant is a conventional plant, using imported coal, sub-critical steam parameters, modern combustion technology, high standards of availability, stability, high performance and security and in particular, meeting environmental protection criteria thanks to modern treatment equipment such as electrostatic dust filter, NOx and SOx treatment system. Coal will be transported to the plant by ships of 30,000 DWT. Demand for coal of the plant is about 3.6 million tons / year.
The Plant was constructed by the consortium contractor of Chengda - DEC - SWEPDI - ZEPC (China), Power Construction Consulting Company No.3 with foreign sub-consultant as the construction supervisor (design approval of construction drawings included).
According to the signed schedule, Unit 1 of the plant will be completed and put into commercial operation within 47 months, unit 2 and the entire plant within 51 months after the effective date of the contract (November 2012). When being put into operation, the plant plays an important role in securing the power supply to the South from 2017, reducing the dependence of the power system on hydropower resources, especially in the dry season and the draught years; reducing energy to be transmitted from North to South; reducing power losses, increasing security, stability and efficiency for the system.
The current progress achieved is thanks to the close directions of the EVN leaders, EVNGENCO1, along with the efficient and responsible efforts made by PMB No. 3, the Consultants and contractors of the plant.

The main progress milestones:

+ Complete the hydraulic test of Unit No. 1: 12 November 2015, Unit 2: 22 January 2016.
+ The reverse power receiving of Unit 1 was completed on 29 January 2016, Unit 2 was completed on 30 June 2016.
