In accordance with this Resolution, by 2020, electrical science and technology (ST) of the Corporation shall reach the development level of top countries in ASEAN. By 2030, most of the aspects shall match the world advanced level meeting the requirements of an industrial country.
To achieve targets, EVN focuses on implementing of 4 key solution groups as follows:
(1) Renewing the thinking, awareness, strengthening the role of leadership of the Party Committee, leaders of agencies, units, mass organizations; promote innovation, creativity in development, application of ST.
(2) Concentrating resources on the development, application of modern, high-efficiency source and power grid technology to save fuel and material, protect environment; extensive application of high utility technology in business and customer service.
(3) Continuously renovating the organizational system, management and operation mechanisms focus on developing of scientific and technological staffs, particularly, EVN’s Scientific training and research center is established.
(4) Developing an appropriate schedule and determining priority order: In 2017, 2018, priority will be given to improvements in organization and management; governance; production and operation, construction investment; business, customer service. In 2019, 2020, to complete the infrastructure system of information technology for the competitive electricity wholesale market and study the construction that of retail market; study the upgrading, replacing and removing of equipment with outdated technologies and failing to meet environmental standards; to complete the system of management, administration and services provision at level 4 of public services in accordance with Government’s Decision No. 31.
Over the last years, the scientific and technological activities in the Corporation have achieved many positive results. The results of scientific research have provided many scientific arguments in the development of the national power development strategy and master plan.
The application of technology contributes to the constant development of Vietnam's power system, helping it grow at a high speed and protecting the ecological environment. Typically, the capacity of the gas turbine generating units increase to 330MW/unit; that of the thermal power unit increase of 300MW to 330MW; new coal-fired power centers with a capacity increasing up to 600 to 660MW. Transmission system with multiple lines and transformer stations’ capacity has reached the voltage of 500kV, transformer stations with gas insulating technology, data collection and monitoring control systems at the National Load Dispatch Center and 3 others in Northern, Central and South area. EVN has also successfully manufactured and commissioned a 500kV transformer since 2011.
