This plant is constructed with the leading state-of-the-art technology in the world, using the Circulating Fluidizing-Bed Boiler (CFB) and largest capacity in Vietnam up to present time/ now (1080MW)., said EVNGENCO3 Chairman Nguyen Van Le.
After 4 years of construction, more than 6,000 officers, engineers, workers and experts have completed Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant, one of the urgent projects listed in National Power Development Program for the period 2011-2020 with vision to 2030 (Power Master Plan VII) under Decision No. 1208/QDTTg, dated 21 July 2011.
Accordingly, Unit No.1 was officially synchronized to the national grid for the first time on 6 January 2015, commercially operated on 10 October 2015. Unit No. 2 was officially synchronized to the national grid for the first time of 22 May 2015, commercially operated on 31 December 2015.

That is the direction made at the Ceremony for Commercial Operation of Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant.
Putting two units of Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant into operation not only contributes greatly to ensuring power supply to the power system, especially in the unfavorable hydrological situation of the reservoirs of Central and Highland of Vietnam, but also to reducing emitted/ emission NOx amount causing green house effect and taking advantage of low quality anthracite coal in Vietnam by applying CFB technology.
