Dong Hy (Thai Nguyen): The national power grid has been connected to 14 remote villages

14 villages and hamlets in remote areas of ​​Dong Hy district have been connected to the national power grid, enabling Thai Nguyen province to come closer to the target of basically completing the rural power grid of the province in 2017.

Tan Loi Commune in Dong Hy District is a difficult remote commune where 429 poor households and 202 near - poor households are residing in. Since the policy of Thai Nguyen province on connecting the power grid to remote areas is made available, Thai Nguyen Power Company has invested in and taken a lot of positive measures to supply power to Tan Loi commune. Thereby the life of Tan Loi people has been improved.

In 2016, Thai Nguyen Power Company was assigned by the province to electrify 14 villages and hamlets with over 1,500 households in Tan Loi, Cay Thi, Quang Son, Hop Tien, Nam Hoa, Van Lang and Minh Lap communes in Dong Hy district, where had no access to electricity yet. In which, more than 12 km of medium voltage lines, 11 distribution substations, and over 50 km of low voltage lines were newly built with a total investment cost of nearly VND 30 billion.

Only after 4 months of implementation, Thai Nguyen Power Company has electrified 7 villages and hamlets in Van Lang commune, including 121 households in Ten village, an extremely difficult mountainous village with 100% of households being poor.

Up to the time of supervision over the rural electrification projects in remote hamlets, villages and areas under special difficulties implemented by Thai Nguyen Power Company in Dong Hy district, there were nine out of eleven substations completed and the remaining two substations were promised by the power sector to be completed in September 2017.

Mr. Dinh Hoang Duong, Director of Thai Nguyen Power Company confirms that in the coming time Thai Nguyen Power Company will try to implement other projects; coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade of Thai Nguyen province to test, commission and energize the 2081 project; focusing on the project of upgrading power grids for 83 villages and hamlets in Dinh Hoa, Vo Nhai, Dong Hy, Dai Tu and Phu Luong districts, envisaged to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.

Rural electricity is a key task in the strategy of "Modernizing agriculture and rural areas in association with constructing new rural areas", contributing to achieving the electricity related criteria in the national target program on new rural construction.

With the interests and investments of Thai Nguyen province and the power industry, in 2017, rural power grids in Thai Nguyen province will be basically improved and move closer to the goal of 100% of villages in the province using electricity from the national grid.
