110 – 500 kV power grids operates smoothly after the storm No.10

This is an update at 6 am on September 16, 2017 from the Standing Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Vietnam Electricity on the situation of remedying power failures after the storm No. 10.

Failures on the 110 kV and 500 kV grids have been fixed. Particularly as for the 220 kV grid, the tower No.48 of Vung Ang - Dong Hoi 220kV transmission line is still under repair. In the night of September 15, 2017, nearly 200 staff was mobilized to remedy the failure. It is expected to complete restoration of the power line on September 18, 2017. At present, the power grid is fed with electricity from other sources to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

Also in the night of September 15, 2017, local power branches arranged their personnel to work overnight to restore electricity supply in an early manner. Until 6:00 am on September 16, 2017, electricity supply has been restored for some severely affected areas including: Dong Hoi City Center, Quang Binh Province; centers of cities, districts of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.

Vietnam Electricity continues to direct its member organizations to promptly mobilize manpower and equipment to remedy grid failures caused by the storm in order to restore the power supply to customers in the shortest time, especially to the loads such as hospitals, draining pumping stations, communication stations, securing safety of people and equipment.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention has the Official Telegraph No.66 at 7 o’clock on September 16, 2017 for the closing of all low level outlet gates of Hoa Binh reservoir. In details: one door will close at 9 o'clock, one door will close at 15 o'clock today.
