Major power network projects are mainly invested for prevention of electrical grid overload in Tuy Hoa city and Song Cau town; improving the recently transferred and unsafe rural electrical grids in mountainous districts such as Son Hoa, Song Hinh, Dong Xuan.
Mr. Tran Van Khoa, Director of Phu Yen Power Company, said that in 2017, the Central Power Corporation has assigned Phu Yen Power Company to carry out 44 projects with a total investment cost of over VND 193 billion. Most of the projects aim to upgrade and rehabilitate the power grid system.
Upgrading and refurbishing the power grid will improve the reliability of electricity supply and reduce the power interruption duration. In 2016, this indicator was about 1,500 minutes, this year it tends to decrease to about 1,000 minutes and by 2020 to only 400 minutes.
In addition to upgrading the power grid system in service of residential uses, Phu Yen Power Company has invested in many special purpose electricity supply projects in industrial zones.
The investment in upgrading and expanding Hoa Hiep 110 kV Substation in parallel with upgrading the medium voltage power network will warrant that "electricity will go ahead" to meet electricity requirements for development of the Nam Phu Yen economic zone covering an area of over 20,000 ha.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Quyen, Head of Hoa Hiep 110 kV Substation (Dong Hoa district, Phu Yen province), stated that during the recent time, the load demand has been increasing rapidly. The investment in and installation of the second transformer in this Substation by the Central Power Corporation will serve the entire Dong Hoa district, the south of Tuy Hoa city, including Hoa Hiep 1 Industrial Park and Hoa Hiep 2 Industrial Park. This project will facilitate the operation and maintenance of the Substation in a safer and more effective manner.
Currently, Phu Yen Power Company delivers electricity to over 250,000 customers. It is expected that electricity consumption amount in 2017 will reach about 728 million kWh, an increase of 9% compared to 2016.
