Drastic solutions to ensure the progress of power transmission projects in the 2021-2025 period

On 28 July 2021, EVN’s Deputy General Directors Nguyen Tai Anh and Pham Hong Phuong co-chaired a meeting to review the construction investment plan of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) for the 2021-2025 period. The meeting was held in an online form to ensure COVID-19 epidemic prevention.

Large investment

To meet the power transmission goals for the 2021-2025 period, EVN plans to assign EVNNPT to complete 307 projects, with a total power line length of 15,900km and a capacity of 79,900MVA.

The meeting was held in an online form to ensure COVID-19 epidemic prevention.

The construction investment goals of the above projects is to ensure that the 500kV transmission networks are built to transmit power from large power centers to load centers, connecting regional power systems, in which efforts are focused on strengthening transmission capacity of backbone 500kV power lines (from Quang Trach to Pho Noi, Van Phong-Binh Dinh, Dung Quat-Krong Buk-Tay Ninh 1 and from the Southwest region to the Southern load center).

220kV transmission networks shall be built in ring structure. Substations in areas with high load density need to be designed according to a reasonable scheme to ensure flexible operation. At the same time, existing power links for electricity trading with countries in the region shall be maintained.

EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu said that EVNNPT has worked closely with EVN's specialized departments to develop a plan to implement projects in the 2021-2025 period to ensure the progress and quality of the projects.

Coordinated solutions

EVNNPT strives to complete the 500kV power line circuit 3 in 2021

The volume of construction investment of EVNNPT for the 2021-2025 period will be very large, with many challenges. EVN leaders required EVNNPT to complete a system of internal regulations in construction investment; perfecting the organizational model, improving human resource capacity and responsibility of the leaders at the PMUs.

Along with that, EVNNPT needs to improve investment preparation; proactively control the progress and quality of the investment implementation stage; strengthen solutions on environmental protection, labor safety.

EVN's leaders especially emphasized that EVNNPT needs to promote a digital transformation program along with the application of science, technology and advanced management tools in power transmission project management.
