Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company cares about environmental protection

Towards the goal of sustainable development, along with production and business development, Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company (Duyen Hai TPC) has been focusing on implementing many plans, solutions, and organization of synchronous implementation, contributing to landscape construction and environmental protection.

Since coming into operation, Duyen Hai TPC has proactively implemented legal regulations on environmental protection; ensuring harmony and friendliness with the environment and community; and adapting to climate change.

The company has planted more than 13,500 trees of all kinds

The system of plants managed by the Company is all equipped with advanced technological environmental treatment systems and is commonly applied to coal-fired thermal power plants around the world. At the same time, it is closely monitored during construction and operation such as the Nox treatment system with NH3 (Selective Catalytic Reduction - SCR); electrostatic precipitator system (Electrostatic Precipitator - ESP); Seawater Sox treatment system (Flue Gas Desulphurisation - FGD); 210m high chimney and online exhaust and wastewater monitoring system, and so on.

At the same time, to limit and manage the amount of waste and dust generated during the production process that pollutes the environment, the Company has proposed regulations and strictly implemented the treatment process for these types of waste. Specifically, other solid waste (including hazardous waste, ordinary waste, and domestic waste) is collected by type with separate warehouses and contracted with specialized treatment units. All types of production wastewater and domestic wastewater generated from plants are collected and treated to meet QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT regulations and then completely reused for purposes suppressing coal warehouse dust, washing conveyor belts, suppressing dust, and humidifying fly-ash silo and slag dump areas, cooling and humidifying furnace bottom slag.

For fly ash and slag at the bottom of the furnace (the Institute of Construction Science and Technology - Ministry of Construction has evaluated, taken samples for testing, and issued a certificate of conformity for ash and slag for DH1, DH3, and DH3MR thermal power plants) following TCVN 12249:2018 - coal-fired thermal power ash and slag used as leveling material; fly ash in accordance with regulations for concrete, mortar and cement under QCVN 16:2017/BXD) is collected and transported by the Company by concealed specialized vehicles to transport to the slag yard or receiving units to be produced into construction materials.

In addition, the ash and slag dump is designed to be waterproof and has a coffer dam to avoid affecting the quality of groundwater in the area. The dam surrounding the slag dump is lined with unburnt bricks, and filled with soil to plant casuarina trees, grass, and sea spinach in the area inside the slag dump to create a windbreak, limit dust dispersion, and improve microclimate conditions in this area.

In particular, environmental monitoring and periodic reporting sent to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment are seriously implemented by the Company. The results show that most of the monitoring parameters meet national technical standards on the environment.

Along with that, the Company also installed technology diagrams and information e-boards to transmit data to the front of the plant gate to make environmental information public and transparent for people and the community to check and monitor it. In addition, we regularly welcome local authorities and people themselves to visit to witness the production process and environmental protection work at the plants managed by the Company.
