EVN announced the deployment of electricity bills and service records applying QR code

On 9 December 2020, in Hanoi, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) held a ceremony to announce the implementation of "QR code application for electricity bills". This event marks the continuous process of applying new technologies and solutions to bring the most convenience to electricity users across the country.

The application of QR code according to the State Bank's standards demonstrates EVN's efforts to continuously improve and bring electricity services to customers more and more conveniently, openly and transparently on the basis of applying modern technology, contributing to boosting the building of a digital economy. This event is part of Customer Gratitude Month 2020 and aims to celebrate 66 years of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Electricity Industry (21 December, 1954 – 21 December, 2020).

In recent years, EVN has continuously innovated customer service with the goal of becoming more friendly and modern. In 2015, EVN has applied issuing e-invoices to all customers. From 21 December 2018, EVN has provided online electricity services at level 4 and signed E-contracts for power purchase and sale services from 12 December 2019. In December 2019, EVN provided 100% of online electricity services on the National Public Service Portal. In March 2020, EVN continued to announce a new, easier-to-monitor and user-friendly form of electricity bills. This QR code implementation event affirmed that EVN is one of the state-owned enterprises pioneering in reform to bring services and professional records towards applying electronic transactions with a higher level of security, ensuring information security for all customers.

Starting from January 2021, EVN deployed QR code application according to the State Bank's standards for all electricity customers, each customer will have a QR code. This QR code will be associated with each customer, applied on all customer profiles, on electricity bills. Customers do not need to remember their customer number when making transactions with EVN, and the payment for their electrical services becomes simpler and more convenient. Customers just scan the QR code and enter the amount, the payment will be completed quickly. Customers can store payment information on their personal mobile phones, pay for electricity bills anytime, anywhere with just scanning the QR code. QR codes are applied according to the State Bank's standards to help customers feel more secure when making payment for electricity services with two layers of security and a special format. As for the electricity industry, the application of QR code will contribute to increase labour productivity, bring greater efficiency in electricity business and customer services.

Up to now, EVN's Power Units have cooperated with more than 30 banks, 10 intermediaries and nearly 10,000 organizations and individuals of electricity retailing services to collect electricity charges in a regular condition and ensures a high rate of over 99.7% annually. Regarding non-cash payments, banks and intermediary payment organizations have  currently contributed to collecting electricity charges of over 20.36 million customers, accounting for 74.44% of the number of bills and 93.68 % of amount; Electricity retail organizations and individuals have collected an average of nearly 5.85 million customers, accounting for 21.38% of the number of bills and 4.46% of the charges. In general, the proportions of electricity bill payment: the current number of non-cash customers is 70.25%; the amount of electricity charge by non-cash payment of the whole EVN reached 91.54%.

According to an independent consultant, the customer satisfaction with electricity services is increasing, at the same time, it is also positively evaluated by international organizations. Currently, EVN has continued to focus on implementing the Project of Research and Application of Technologies of Industrial Revolution 4.40 in production and business activities and the Digital Transformation Project. EVN aims to continue strong digital transformation in the fields of production and business activities so as to strive to make EVN soon become a digital enterprise and build a modern, sustainable and efficient economic Group.
