In the first 9 months of 2020, the commercial output of the whole EVN reached 162.31 billion kWh, an increase of 3.09% over the same period in 2019.
The transmitted power output in September 2020 reached 17.62 billion kWh, the transmission was mainly in the direction of Central-North and Central-South. The highest transmission rate on the North-Central transmission system was 1,789MW and the Central-South was 2,627MW. In the first 9 months of 2020, the transmitted power output reached 154.84 billion kWh, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year.
Water inflow to hydropower reservoirs: In the North, due to the influence of northeast monsoon and storm circulation at the end of September 2020, water inflow to hydropower reservoirs in the Red River basin was at quite a good level. From 30 September 2020 to 4 October 2020, discharge gates at reservoirs of Son La, Huoi Quang-Ban Chat, Hoa Binh and Thac Ba hydropower plants were opened in accordance with the requirement of the Central Steering Committee for natural disasters. Although the remaining river basins were in the flood season, water inflow to reservoirs was still in shortage at 20-50% compared to the average level for many years, of which the lowest was in the Central Highlands with a shortage of 40-50%. The total useful capacity of EVN's reservoirs as of 4 October 2020 was about 23.7 billion cubic meters, that is about four billion cubic meters higher than that of the same period in 2019.
Business and customer service: By the end of September 2020, the percentage of customers making cashless payment of electricity bills reached 66.11%. The amount received by this method accounted for 83.78%. Handling customer requests through service providing channels: In 9 months, EVN’s units received over 12.76 million requests for electrical services, including the ones received directly at customer transaction offices accounting for 4.82%, through the Centers for Customer Care, Public Administration, Public Service accounting for 95.18%; Particularly, reception and settlement via Internet channels (National Public Service Portal, Customer Care website, App CSKH, Zalo, etc.) there were 1,393,395 requests, equivalent to 10.92%.
Rooftop solar power (RSP) installations: Particularly in the first 9 months of 2020, there were 33,606 RSP projects installed nationwide, with a total capacity of 1,146 MWp. As accumulated up to now, there have been 55,983 RSP projects operating with a total capacity of 1,531MWp, power energy fed back to the grid reached 636.6 million kWh.
Regarding investment and construction of power generation projects: In the first 9 months of 2020, Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Expansion Project was put into commercial operation; Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) for Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Expansion Project was issued; Acceptance of the whole project and commissioning of Phuoc Thai 1 Solar Power Plant; and Testing, calibration and preparation for power generation of Se San 4 Solar Power Project, etc. For power grid projects: As accumulated in 9 months of 2020, 107 grid projects had been started and 100 grid projects, from 110 to 500kV, had been completed and energized (including twelve 500kV projects, eleven 220kV projects, seventy seven 110kV projects). Power supply in rural, mountainous and island areas: Inauguration of power supply project by 22kV submarine cables to Nhon Chau island commune (Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province); energizing the 22kV submarine cables across the sea to Tran island (Co To district, Quang Ninh province) and energizing the grid for Cao Bien village, Phu Thuong commune, Vo Nhai district - the last hamlet in Thai Nguyen province supplied with power from the national grid.
Some targets and tasks in the last 3 months of 2020
For the last 3 months of 2020, Covid-19 pandemic in the world was still forecast to be evolving complicatedly, and will affect the recovery of the economy in general and production and business condition of EVN in particular.
With the goal of fulfilling the tasks assigned in the 2020 plan, of which to ensure power supply for socio-economic development of the country and people's lives, EVN set out a number of targets for the last 3 months of 2020 and the whole year 2020 as follows:
- Safe, stable and reliable operation of the power system and the electricity market, optimal mobilization of power plants in the system, following closely the demand profile, weather-hydrological developments and keeping ready to respond to adverse situations; ready for proactive plans to prevent storms and floods, ensuring safety of dams and reservoirs and hydroelectric works; responding to and minimizing damage, promptly overcoming consequences of natural disasters, ensuring safety for downstream areas in the rainy season. Actively propagating about the measures to be taken in using electric power in safe and economical manner among the people.
- Operating safely and reliably the transmission networks, especially the North-South 500kV networks.
- Regarding investment in power generation: Striving to complete and make ready to generate two power units in Thuong Kon Tum Hydropower Project, to complete and make ready to generate Se San 4 solar power project; completing the selection of contractors, bidding packages to commence the projects: Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project, Quang Trach I Thermal Power Project and Shared infrastructure project for Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plants Dung Quat I and III.
- Regarding investment in building power grids: Working closely with the localities to solve problems of site clearance and compensation to focus on construction of 500kV Transmission Line, Circuit 3 of Vung Ang-Doc Soi-Pleiku 2; focus on implementing key projects, including: Projects in service of connection, power supply for testing BOT Thermal Power Plants of Hai Duong, Nghi Son, Van Phong; projects of capacity release for renewable energy sources; projects for releasing power from hydropower plants in Northwest Vietnam and for electricity import from Laos; power supply projects for loads in 2021, and so on.
- Other key activities: Continuing to divest capital at EVNFinance, Summarizing 8 years of electricity market operation, Coordinating with the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the consulting unit to research the power supply plan for the district of Con Dao from the national grid, etc.
