In 2017 alone, the electricity sales in Son La province were 497 million kWh, an increase of 5.69% over 2016. In 2018, the electricity sales are forecasted to be 518 million kWh with a growth of 4.22%.
Currently 204/204 communes in the province have access to the national power grid, with the proportion of households having access to electricity of 92.2%. On this occasion, the leader of Son La province expressed his expectation that EVN would keep on allocating more budget for investment in rural electrification in the province during the 2019 - 2020 period.
The implementation of financial obligations has been always paid due attention to by EVN in strict compliance with current legal regulations. The total amount of direct payments to state budgets of Son La province by Hoa Binh, Son La, Huoi Quang and Ban Chat Hydropower Companies in 2016 and 2017 is VND 1,730 billion and VND 1,828 billion respectively .
Regarding social security activities, EVN has agreed to fund VND 48 billion for Son La province to build an Ethnic Minority Boarding School in Phu Yen district and about VND 28.97 billion to build Nam Pam Primary School in Muong La district (this area was severely damaged due to flash floods in August 2017).

However, in order to realize power project investment programs in accordance with the approved master plan of Son La province, EVN proposed that the provincial People's Committee would further create favorable conditions and support EVN and EVN’s subsidiaries in land compensation and site clearance in accordance with the expected time schedules, to acquire sufficient land for projects, especially for 500/220/110kV transmission line and substation projects.
At the same time, the province is requested to continue supporting the power industry in communicating for and overseeing the implementation of electricity saving as well as intensifying communication among local people on the responsibility to protect safety of high-voltage power grid works, issuing more stringent sanctions against acts of violating high-voltage power grid safety corridors (right of way).
