Mr. Ian Hatton expressed his pleasure to have the opportunity to work with the top management of Vietnam Electricity for discussing specific information on Ke Ga offshore wind power project.
Ke Ga project has a total capacity of 3,400MW, which is one of the leading large - scale offshore wind power projects in the world. The project has a total investment cost of nearly USD 12 billion, being developed offshore in Binh Thuan province, from 20km to 50km away from Ke Ga cape or the mainland.
The project is divided into several phases of development, with about 600MW of capacity being developed in each investment phase. It is expected that the first phase of the project will come into operation by the end of 2022. Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 (PECC3) is one of the organizations involved in the project implementation.
Mr. Ian Hatton, the representative of project developers, expressed his expectation to receive EVN's support during the implementation process, as well as when the project goes into commercial operation.
EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan (in the right) worked with Mr. Ian Hatton, Chairman of Enterprize Energy
Grasping the information shared by Enterprize Energy, EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan emphasized that the development of renewable energy is a trend encouraged by the Government of Vietnam, which is reflected through feed-in tariff mechanism, favorable investment policies, etc. In line with that, EVN highly welcomes the development of Ke Ga offshore wind power project and is ready to collaborate and facilitate for the successful implementation of the project.
Due to the large capacity of this wind power project, at the meeting, the two sides spent much time discussing the way of evacuating power generated by the project, grid connection and transmission method, PPA implementation, etc. with the goal of promoting the efficiency of the plant operation and securing stable operation of the national power system.
