Mr. Taniguchi expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the effective cooperation between the two corporations over the past period and hoped that the meeting would promote further collaboration.
During the visit, the leaders of Sumitomo Corporation provided updates on their projects and activities in the Vietnamese market. Sumitomo Corporation, one of Japan's leading conglomerates, operates in a wide range of businesses, including the provision of products and services, import and export, domestic and international trade, and investment across various sectors such as construction, transportation, infrastructure, energy, chemicals, and mining.
Since 2007, Sumitomo Corporation has established Sumitomo Corporation Vietnam and invested in two BOT thermal power plants (Phu My 2-2 and Van Phong 1), while also participating in numerous power generation and transmission projects as an EPC contractor.
On the afternoon of September 5th, Mr. Dang Huy Cuong, EVN’s Board of Directors, welcomes working delegation from Sumitomo Corporation (Japan).
The leaders of Sumitomo Corporation also shared information and experiences regarding renewable energy projects and expressed interest in investing in projects to connect the Southeast Asian power grid. They expressed their desire to share expertise and explore cooperation opportunities with EVN.
EVN’s Board of Directors, Mr. Dang Huy Cuong highly appreciated the effectiveness of the power projects implemented by Sumitomo in Vietnam and extended sincere thanks for Sumitomo’s attention to EVN in particular and to energy projects in Vietnam in general. He also affirmed that the corporation is willing to cooperate with international energy companies, ensuring compliance with the regulations and policies in Vietnam.
At the meeting, both sides also discussed several issues such as offshore wind power projects, LNG power projects, and future cooperation opportunities.
