EVN requires its units to urgently implement measures to prevent and combat heat, drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion

On April 19, Vietnam Electricity issued a document directing the implementation of measures to prevent and combat heat, drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion.

Implement the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in Document No. 2349/BCT-TAMT dated April 10, 2024, on implementing measures to prevent and combat heat, drought, water shortage, and saltwater intrusion according to Directive No. 11/CT-TTg dated April 1, 2024, of the Prime Minister, Vietnam Electricity issued document No. 2122/EVN-KTSX, requiring its units to urgently and seriously implement the Prime Minister's direction in Directive No. 11/CT-TTg dated April 1, 2024 and of the MOIT.

Accordingly, EVN requires power generation corporations and affiliated hydropower units to continue working and proposing relevant localities, departments, and branches to develop a water-use plan for production and activities during the remaining period of the dry season in early 2024 toward water resources saving. Plan the operation of downstream hydropower plants effectively and economically to reserve water sources to respond to natural disasters and droughts, ensuring mobilization capacity to meet the needs of the power system during peak hot months. At the same time, regularly monitor and update hydrological forecasts and the actual situation of water resources of reservoirs, and promptly make appropriate adjustments to further improve efficiency in exploiting and using water resources.

Operate downstream hydropower plants effectively and economically

The National Loads Dispatch Center coordinates closely with hydropower plants, regularly updates downstream water needs, and flexibly operates hydropower plants to ensure downstream water supply requirements to save maximum water resources.

Closely monitor the forecast and actual water sources of hydropower reservoirs and the system's operating situation to promptly make appropriate adjustments to ensure a safe and stable power supply of the system.

Power corporations proactively report and provide information to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities on the power supply situation and solutions that need to be implemented. Coordinate with local departments, branches, branches, and mass media agencies to promote propaganda about the 2024 power supply plan, and difficulties in power supply to the national power system, especially in the Northern region so that people and businesses can share difficulties with the Power sector, save electricity, and use electricity reasonably and effectively.
