According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the General Department of Water Resources, before the 3rd time of water discharge, the water area covered 496,263/506,558 ha (reaching 97.8%), an increase of 17.5% compared to the end of the 2nd time. Accordingly, most localities have completed their water accumulation plans for areas dependent on additional flows from hydropower reservoirs, except Hoai Duc, Phuc Tho and Thach That districts of Hanoi City (total of 1,589 ha) .
Discharged water volume of hydropower reservoirs through 3 times:
- 1st time: 1 billion m3
- 2nd time: 2.44 billion m3
- 3rd time: 0.8 billion m3
After the completion of the 3rd time of water supply for crop cultivation, a total area of 503,320/506,558 ha has accumulated water, reaching 99.4% of the planned cultivation area.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant supplied water for the 2021-2022 winter-spring crop in the Northern Midlands and Delta
In all three discharging times, Vietnam Electricity has managed to flexibly operate hydropower plants to replenish water sources on demand and save discharged water, at the same time ensure sufficient electricity supply for pump stations. Information on water discharge of the Group is remitted daily to the General Department of Water Resources and related agencies for coordination. In the 3rd time alone, about 0.63 billion m3 of water was actually saved from being discharged against the plan, and about 1.33 billion m3 has been saved during all 3 times of water discharge.
The water resource has secured most localities to complete their plans of water accumulation for cultivation
