Energization of Phan Ri 220kV substation and its connection lines

The Southern Vietnam Power Projects Management Board (SPMB), in coordination with related units, energized and put into operation Phan Ri 220kV substation (Hoa Minh commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province) and its connection lines, on January 15, 2020.

Phan Ri 220kV substation project was invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and was operated and managed by SPMB. It was designed by Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 and has been taken over and managed and operated by Power Transmission Company No. 3.

Specifically, this new 220/110kV substation project with a total capacity of 500MVA includes installation of a 220/110kV-250MVA transformer (in this phase); six 220kV bays (with space left for 4 other bays); the 110kV distribution yard with 9 bays installed and space left for 9 other bays; installation of the control, protection, measuring, metering, communication and SCADA systems.

The new built 220kV connection lines includes 2 and 4 circuit connection sections to the Vinh Tan Thermal Power Plant - Phan Thiet 220kV power line with a length of about 2.5 km.

The project was invested in order to ensure power supply to the loads in Tuy Phong, Bac Binh and Ham Thuan Bac districts of Binh Thuan province and the southern districts of Ninh Thuan province while reducing the load of 220/110kV transformers in Phan Thiet and Thap Cham 220kV substations.

The facility also releases part of power capacity from renewable power plants in the area.
