Energizing Chau Duc 220kV Substation Project (Ba Ria-Vung Tau)

On 29 August 2020, the Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB) in coordination with related units energized successfully Chau Duc 220kV Substation and Connection Line Project in Chau Duc district, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

A 220kV-250MVA transformer at Chau Duc 220kV Substation

Chau Duc 220kV Substation Project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and managed by SPMB.

The substation is designed with three 220kV-250MVA transformers, twelve 220kV bays, twenty-two 110kV bays, and related equipment. In this phase, only one 220kV-250MVA transformer, four 220kV bays, nine 110kV bays were installed, and the 22kV side was arranged as a utility power supply bloc.

The connection line is newly built with a 220kV 4-circuit and a double circuit transmission line on a tower row with a total length of about 2.4 km, and in this phase it is connected to a circuit of the existing Phan Thiet-Ham Tan-Tan Thanh 220kV transmission line.

The project is built to ensure power supply to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and surrounding areas, and to lighten load of 220/110kV transformers at Xuan Loc, Vung Tau 220kV  substations and to reduce load of 110kV lines in the area. This project also improves connectivity, safety, stability and flexibility in operating the power system in the South.
