At the meeting, Mr. Moroo Shino emphasized the existing good cooperation that Marubeni Group and Vietnam Electricity have had over the past time. At the same time, he highly appreciated EVN's close and effective collaboration in realizing cooperation activities within the framework of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in November 2022. Accordingly, the two sides have established working groups and embarked on implementing goals of decarbonizing thermal power plants; studying and developing renewable energy, new energy, application of new technologies; considering new and available financial policies and incentive mechanisms to implement decarbonization projects, etc.
The leader of Marubeni Group also informed that the Group has been developing wind power projects worldwide since 2010 and has abundant experience in this field. Therefore, Marubeni is very interested in and wishes to cooperate with EVN in renewable energy, especially offshore wind power, projects in Vietnam. Along with that, Marubeni desires to promote cooperation with EVN in deploying technologies and solutions to reduce carbon emissions of coal-fired thermal power plants.

On the part of Vietnam Electricity, EVN’s President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan highly appreciated the good cooperation relationship between EVN and Marubeni in recent times. To implement the Net Zero commitment by 2050, Vietnam Electricity is making efforts to implement energy transition projects, solutions and develop green energy sources. Therefore, EVN really needs support and experience sharing from reputable international partners like Marubeni Group.
At the meeting, the two sides also discussed other relevant issues such as the energy transition roadmap; difficulties and challenges of Vietnam's power industry, cooperation priorities in the coming time, etc.
