Workers of EVNHCMC had done live – line working on energized power lines
Right since the beginning of 2017, EVNHCMC has developed a concrete implementation plan in line with the theme “Promotion of modernization in managing and operating the power system” as per Vietnam Electricity’s direction on science and technology promotion in the power sector.
Modernization of the power sector
Mr. Pham Quoc Bao, Vice President of EVNHCMC, said that the Corporation has currently established a Remote Control Center which has been put into pilot operation since May 2015 and will officially operate from August 2017.
The Center plays an especially important role in managing and operating the power grid. It monitors, oversees the electricity supply situation and remotely controls the power grid in the whole city. The Center is composed of 110 kV substations and switchgears on the medium voltage power grid.
EVNHCMC has been implementing pilot projects on typical smart grid and micro – grid areas in order to enhance the electricity delivery reliability, at the same time to reduce power loss and to use electric power in an economical and efficient manner in these areas.
In addition, the Corporation has been performing preparatory works for the pilot Micro-Grid project in Quang Trung Software Park area. Power grid automation via unmanned 110 kV substations and 22 kV distribution grid automation have been enhanced. Adoption of live – line working technologies have been steadily boosted in order to diminish power interruption duration that’s supposedly required for convention maintenance and repair works.
The Corporation has done their owned researches, manufactured by themselves and put into use 21 equipment sets of hotline insulator washing by high - pressure water for insulators on 110 kV and 22 kV power lines of the high voltage power grid company and power companies.
EVNHCMC has persistently promoted application of software programs, particularly those for operation management, namely Power Network Management Information System (PMIS); Meter Data Management System (MDMS); applications of Geographic Information System (GIS) with six specialized maps to serve technical management, operation management; Customer Relationship Management (CRM-App)…
A lot of utilities conducive to customers
Promotion of science and technology is realized not only in management and operation but also in power business and customer service activities.

It is known that until now except that the bill collection service reaches level 4, all the remaining services delivered by the Corporation are rated online service level 3.
In addition, EVNHCMC has applied electricity bills’ electronic format since January 2014 with more than 2.2 million customers until now.
At the same time, the Corporation simultaneously provides series of utilities to customers such as electronic meters with automatic meter reading function; customer care application on mobile devices (EVNHCMC CSKH); application of mobile devices in meter reading, bill collection and other fieldworks; GIS application in operation management and customer care, etc.
A leader of EVNHCMC said that the Corporation would install grid connected rooftop solar power panel systems in office buildings of all power companies in the year 2017.
