- November 4, 1993: Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet issued an order to perform commencement

- May 12, 2000: generating power for the first unit (Unit No. 1)

- 12/12/2001: generating power for the last unit (Unit No. 4)

Se San 3 Hydropower Plant (2 units, total capacity of 260MW)

- April 2006: generating power for the first unit

- June 2006: generating power for the second unit

Pleikrong Hydropower Plant (2 units, total capacity of 100MW)

- May 2009: generating power for the first unit

- September 2009: generating power for the second unit

According to Mr. Doan Tien Cuong - Director of Ialy Hydropower Company, the figure of 100 billion kWh is the result of more than 22 years of managing and operating the plants of many generations of the company’s staff and employees (Unit No. 1 of the Ialy Power Plant officially started power generation to the national grid on May 12, 2000). This is a proud achievement for the company to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Vietnam Power Sector Traditional Day (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2022).

Promoting the role of multi-purpose strategic hydropower

Ialy Hydropower Company manages and operates all 3 hydropower plants of Ialy, Se San 3 and Pleikrong at the same time, with a total capacity of 1,080MW, an average design power output of 5.31 billion kWh/year. These are all plants that play an important role in ensuring power supply for the country and are also key works to start the electrification cause in the Central Highlands in general and the two provinces of Gia Lai, Kon Tum in particular.

Out of 100 billion kWh, 75.5 billion kWh is produced by Ialy Power Plant, 19.2 billion kWh is produced by Se San 3 Power Plant and 5.3 billion kWh is produced by Pleikrong Power Plant.

Over the years, in addition to generating power, the plants have effectively prevented floods, contributing to ensuring the safety of the works and downstream areas. Reservoir operation and hydrological regulation are assured to be absolutely safe.

Sharing responsibility with the community, employees of the company have contributed their salaries to establish funds to "repay kindness", "for poor women", and "heart for children". The company has donated more than VND 10 billion to social organizations, helping the poor and disaster-hit areas; 33 gratitude houses were built or repaired for poor families, policy families in the 2 provinces of Gia Lai, Kon Tum and many other practical and meaningful activities were performed.

Accelerated digital transformation

The system of equipment and technology at 3 hydropower plants of Ialy, Sesan 3 and Pleikrong is quite complicated. Due to the variety of types, origins and production times, the synchronization is not high, which is most evident in the first years of operation. Along with that, the equipment after more than 20 years of operation has revealed its aging status.

Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the national transformation roadmap have changed the overall and comprehensive way of working for each individual and organization, especially the management of power production on the basis of digital technology. From EVN's 2021 theme of "Digital transformation in the Electricity of Vietnam", the company has synchronously deployed digital transformation solutions in all aspects of operations, thereby contributing to improving operational efficiency, corporate governance, and labor productivity improvement.

Up to now, 100% of the company's units have applied information technology in repair work according to the method of RCM (reliability-based maintenance). Besides, from 2022, all major repair lists outside the unit will also be applied RCM.

The company has also built a mobile application for surveying and reporting on site for construction maintenance based on geographical information and field images; implemented digitizing the process of handling equipment defects, digitizing the process of monitoring, and acceptance testing of major repairs on PMIS software; collected hydrological data with automatic input into PMIS software instead of manual input; 80% of business processes are digitized; For the office activities, up to 90% of business processes are performed in non-paper form, etc.
