In recent years, the Government of Finland has provided a lot of support and assistance to the development of Viet Nam's power industry towards modernization and sustainability.
In particular, during the 2006 - 2011 period, the Government of Finland through the Finnish Embassy in Viet Nam provided concessional loans to EVN to implement miniSCADA projects in Da Nang, Hue, Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh province), Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak province) with a total amount of about EUR 8.6 million.
From 2012 until now, the Finnish Government has kept on providing concessional loans totaling about USD 6 million to EVN to implement miniSCADA projects in Tam Ky (Quang Nam province) and Pleiku (Gia Lai province).
All these projects have been completed, demonstrating the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
In the dialogue with the Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, Mr. Dinh Quang Tri expressed his sincere thanks to the Finnish Government for its assistance extended to the power sector of Viet Nam. At the same time, Mr. Tri expected that in the coming time the cooperation in the field of energy between the two parties would be increasingly enhanced.

Currently, the Government of Viet Nam encourages the development of renewable energy sources such as wind power, solar power, etc. In line with this trend, EVN has been promoting the application of advanced technology to develop smart grid in order to effectively operate the power grid with high renewable energy penetration. This is also an opportunity for EVN and Finnish businesses to further expand their cooperation activities.
