Operation situation in February 2021 and working objectives and tasks in March 2021

In February 2021, Vietnam Electricity ensured a stable and safe power supply for socio-economic development, meeting the people's daily needs, especially during the Tet holiday.

Accumulated in the first 2 months of the year, power production and import reached 36,132 billion kWh, of which:

+ Hydropower: mobilized 9,331 billion kWh, increasing by 55.95% over the same period;

+ Coal thermal power: mobilizing 17,728 billion kWh, decreasing by 16.66% over the same period;

+ Renewable energy: 4.09 billion kWh mobilized, of which: Solar power has been mobilized at 3,653 billion kWh - 2.39 times as much as that of the first 2 months of 2020.

EVN's commercial power output in the first 2 months of 2021 reached 33.61 billion kWh, an increase of 4.3% over the same period last year. In which, power supplied to industry increased by 8.15%, power supplied for business and services continued to decrease by 11.47%, power supplied to consumer management maintained at the growth momentum of 2.62%.

Hydrological situation (as of 3 March 2021): Total useful capacity in EVN's hydropower reservoirs is 20.4 billion m3, about 4.5 billion m3 higher than that of the same period in 2020. EVN has organized the operation of hydroelectric plants to the maximum capacity to facilitate irrigation works for water intake to serve rice cultivation in the winter-spring crop of 2020-2021, while at the same time ensuring supplying sufficient power for the pump stations to operate. Generally, for all 3 discharges, EVN hydropower reservoirs discharged 5.14 billion m3 (Hoa Binh reservoir: 3.399 billion m3, Tuyen Quang reservoir: 1.059 billion m3, Thac Ba reservoir: 0.682 billion m3) supplying enough water for serving the cultivation in the Winter-Spring crop of 2020 - 2021 for provinces of the Northern Midlands and Delta. Compared with the original plan, the total amount of water discharged will save about 0.5 - 0.7 billion m3. The total amount of water discharged this year has decreased compared to that as planned, but is still 2.46 billion m3 higher than that of 2020 (the year with heavy rain on the Lunar New Year); 0.72 billion m3 higher than that in 2019.

Regarding customer inquiries through service providing channels in the first 2 months of 2021:

- The Power Corporations have received over 1.35 million electricity service requests. In which: the number of requests receiving directly at customer transaction offices only accounts for 0.74%; The requests are mainly received through the Center for Customer Care, Center for Public Administration, and Public Service with the number of over 1.34 million requests, equivalent to 99.26%.

- 121,825 requests were received through the National Public Service Portal (NPSP) corresponding to 65.39% of EVN's total requests for services to synchronize documents on the Portal. Thus, from the time of NPSP coming into operation, electricity services have always been in the group of outstanding services of the Portal, which are used by the most number of users, accounting for 60% of requests of ministries, branches and localities which are performed by citizens and businesses on the Portal.

- The implementation of receiving electricity service requests by electronic form: the rate of transactions by this form of all EVN reaches 92.88% (an increase of 14.88% compared to 2020’s).

Regarding investment in power grid construction, in the first 2 months of 2021, EVN and its units have commenced 14 projects; Completed energizing, putting into operation 13 power grid projects from 110kV to 500kV (including 01 500kV project, 04 220kV projects and 8 110kV projects).

Tasks of EVN in March 2021

In March 2021, the daily average power consumption of the whole system is expected at 673.4 million kWh/day, the largest load capacity is estimated at 38,558 MW.

The goal of operating the power system in March 2021 is: continuing to well perform the dual task of preventing and combating Covid-19 pandemic and ensuring power production and supply for production, business and people's daily activities; exploiting coal-fired thermal power and gas turbines according to source configuration, in order to make the most of renewable energy; regulating hydropower reservoirs closely following the annual plan and ensuring water supply at downstream for localities; performing the safe and reliable operation of the transmission grid, especially the North-South 500kV system.

Construction investment: Urgently completing power generation of the units of Thuong Kon Tum Hydropower project. For power grid projects: Focusing on speeding up key projects such as 500kV line circuit 3 projects, Van Phong 500kV transformer station, Van Phong - Vinh Tan 500kV transmission line, Nam Sum - Nong Cong 220kV transmission line; Urging the construction contractors to strive to complete energizing the Doc Soi - Pleiku2 500kV transmission line project; Ninh Phuoc - Tuy Phong - Phan Ri line of circuit 2; connecting Tinh Bien 110kV station (the 110kV line, circuit 2 of the  Chau Doc - Tinh Bien 220kV station); 110kV line connecting Long Son; 110kV LSP Long Son - Long Son transmission line; pulling the circuit wire of Mui Ne - Hoa Thang - Luong Son  110kV lines, circuit 2.
