Total power production and import output of the whole system in April 2018 reached 18.03 billion kWh (average of 601.1 million kWh/day). The highest daily output reached 646.5 million kWh (13 April, 2018), the largest total power consumption reached 30,720MW (24 April, 2018). As accumulated in the first four months of 2018, the total output reached 67 billion kWh, increasing by 11.08% over the same period of 2017.
In April, 2018, the transmission capacity tended to increase in the direction from the North to the Central and the South. The highest transmission capacity in the North-Central 500kV lines was 2,020MW and that of the Central-South lines was 3,500MW, transmission capacity to the South was about 48.6 million kWh/day (equivalent to 16.7% power demand of the South). Power output transmitted in April 2018 was estimated at 15.3 billion kWh. Accumulation in the first four months of 2018 was estimated at 56.4 billion kWh, increasing by 10.8% over the same period in 2017.
In April 2018, EVN's total commercial power output was estimated at 16.06 billion kWh, increasing by 10.34% compared to that of April 2017. Accumulation in the first four months of 2018 was estimated at 58.34 billion kWh, increasing by 10.59% over the same period in 2017, of which domestic commercial power output increased by 10.51%. EVN's total power loss in the first 4 months of 2018 was estimated at 6.81%, 0.39% lower than the target plan (7.20%).
In the first four months of the year, the operation of power supply closely followed the demand for power in the whole country and areas, ensuring the mobilization of various power sources in line with the hydrological situation, gas supply ability and ensuring water supply for downstream areas and the agricultural production as well. Both hydro-power and thermo-power have been optimally exploited, ensuring the binding on water supply requirements for downstream areas by the localities and the Central and Southern hydropower plants to maintain the water at the highest level as possible until the end of dry season.
In terms of construction investment, EVN's units have made great efforts in executing and directing the construction of works planned for 2018, especially those supplying power in the dry season and achieved some main results as follows: Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has been completed, tested and handed over, put into operation of the unit No. 2, Vinh Tan 4 extension Thermal Power Plant is actively being constructed, following up its required progress of about 67% so far. Particularly for the grid, in April 2018, 12 projects have been commenced, 22 power projects have been put into operation with capacity of 110-500kV. As accumulated in the first four months of 2018, 39 projects have been commenced and 62 projects have been put into operation, including 12 500/220kV projects. Key works of the transmission grid which were put into operation in April 2018, including: 500kV Lai Chau Substation, upgrading capacity of 500kV Son La substation, 220kV substations of Phu Tho, Dak Nong and upgrading transmission capacity of the 220kV Nho Quan - Thanh Hoa line. Key works on the 110kV power grid which were powered in April: 110kV branch after 220kV stations of Long Bien, West of Hanoi; upgrading the transmission capacity of 110kV line in 172 Phuc Tho feeder; works synchronized with 220kV substations of Lai Chau, Phu Tho, 110kV line of Hung Dong - Cua Lo of 2nd circuit; 110kV substation of HANAKA, Van Giang 2, Luc Ngan, etc.
For some other tasks: In April 2018, EVN issued the 5-year plan of 9 affiliated Corporations; completed the divestment for Thu Duc Electro-mechanics JSC., (EVNEMC) to earn VND 77.51 billion, a capital surplus of VND 31.56 billion. EVN submitted the results of enterprise valuation to the Equitization Steering Committee and Ministry of Industry and Trade to equitize EVNGENCO1.
Some key targets, tasks of EVN in May 2018
Given the fact that the annual Quarter II is the peak of the dry season and the most stressful time of the year in terms of power supply throughout the system, Vietnam Electricity has set a target of ensuring safe, stable operation of the power system and the electricity market, meeting the power demand in the dry months of Quarter II/2018 with the estimated growth rate of about 12.5% over the same period in last year. In May 2018, the average output of the whole system is estimated at 635.2 million kWh/day, with the maximum load capacity estimated at 33,500MW. EVN maintains the target of optimally and simultaneously exploiting hydropower – thermal power plants, meeting requirements of water supply in downstream areas for localities, the repair work at power plants are promptly complete as planned to improve availability; preparing sufficient fuel (coal, oil, etc.), materials, facilities and human resources ready to meet the mobilization requirements of the National Load Dispatch Center. The transmission line is safely, reliably operated, especially the North - South 500kV grid system in the condition of high-load transmission for the South. Options for power supply in cases of highly increasing load are prepared for, especially in the North. Options are prepared for disaster prevention and rescue to ensure the safety of dams, reservoirs and hydropower works, ensure the safety of downstream areas in the upcoming rainy, flood and storm season in 2018.
For the investment and construction work, the progress targets of construction and completion in Quarter II and May 2018 are continuously focused on, including some typical works such as: Completing PAC granting for power generation unit No.1 in the Project of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant and ensuring sufficient coal supply for commercial power generation for the units; Completing of PAC granting for both units of Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant project, speeding up construction of items under the critical path of EPC package, especially FGD item of Duyen Hai 3 Extension Thermo-power Plant, etc. For power grid, efforts are continuously made to focus on deploying urgent projects for power supply in the dry months and the whole year of 2018, strive to complete the energization of some key works within May: 1C branch after 220kV Pho Noi Substation, 220/500kV Long Bien - Bac Ninh 2 line, 220kV substation of Phong Dien - Can Tho, 220kV Quang Ngai - Quy Nhon line (Phase 2), etc.; 110kV power grid works are ensured to be completed in May: Nghia Lo - Cam Khe line, connecting 110kV line after Trang Bach 220kV substation, Installing equipment for 2 220kV substations of Tay Ho, 110kV substation of Thong Nhat Park, renovating 110KV Ha Dong - Quoc Oai line. Power supply is continuously ensured for shrimp farming and removal of the power connection after meters in the Southern provinces, especially in the Southwest.
For other tasks, EVN will implement the software program of CMIS 3.0 for customer management in 18 Provincial/city power companies; deploy the option of “one-stop shop” procedure in Ho Chi Minh City and Bac Ninh province, organize the first General Meeting of Shareholders for EVNGENCO3 after the Prime Minister has approved the adjustment of EVNGENCO3 equitization plan; actively implement equitization steps for EVNGENCO1 and 2.
