This is an important milestone, a premise for commissioning equipment systems in order to meet the target of commissioning unit 3 in Lai Chau Hydropower Plant project in November 2016 and inaugurating the whole project in December 2016.
Rotor of unit 3 is 1,000 tons in weight, 15,589 mm in diameter and 2,816 mm in height. Before installing this rotor, contractors has finished installing turbine, stator, crane, system of lifting devices, insulation resistance test, etc.

According to Mr. Pham Hong Phuong, Director of Son La – Lai Chau Hydropower Plan Project Management Board, after commissioning unit 2 (in Jun 2016), Management Board and contractors had reviewed entire progress of the project in order to closely monitor works including one of the most important tasks at the moment – installing rotor of unit 3.
“We can assure that this is the largest rotor of the hydroelectric generator unit and also the last one being installed in Vietnam (for a new hydropower plant). Success in installing this rotor marks an important step in finishing the entire project at the end of 2016 – one year earlier than planned.” – Pham Hong Phuong said.
As reported, up to this moment, 2 units of Lai Chau hydropower plant have produced 2.4 billion kWh of electricity, contributing large amount of energy to national power system.
