Activate the key area
In the middle of July 2018, the 477m long underground cable of 22kV locating under the Tien River was put into operation, supplying power to the Hi-tech agricultural park located on an islet in Tan Chau Town (An Giang Province). The project was implemented by An Giang Power Company and some investors with a total investment of VND 20 billion.
According to Mr. Tran Hoa Hop, Permanent Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee of Tan Chau Town, the project not only supplies power for Hi-tech agriculture parks, but also added an amount of power to cover the shortage for the local people. The above-mentioned power supply has created a motivation to attract investors to intensively invest in industrial parks, clusters and urban areas in Tan Chau Town.
Many key, urgent investment projects and works have been implemented and put into operation in recent years such as: The project of 110kV underground cable line crossing Ha Tien - Phu Quoc, supplying power from the national power grid to Phu Island District; the work of 22kV transmission line, supplying power to the Administrative center of Kien Hai District (Kien Giang Province); Two projects of supplying power from the national grid for Island Communes of Lai Son and Hon Nghe (Kien Giang). Stable power source has formed a crucial premise for island districts as favorable conditions to perform investment in their infrastructure for rapid economic development and strong national defense and security.
Supply power to remote areas
By the end of September 2018, the project’s phase 2 of supplying power from the national grid to 5 districts of Vinh Loi, Hoa Binh, Phuoc Long, Hong Dan and Dong Hai of Bac Lieu Province will have been completed after three years of implementation. The project consists of 971km of medium-voltage transmission line, 869km of low-voltage transmission line, installs 1,119 distribution substations with the total investment of VND 1,136 billion. After the project’s entire completion (2020), it will secure the power supply for 18,791 households of 254 hamlets in 39 communes of 5 districts, meeting the irrigation demand of agricultural production and aquaculture for 67,749 ha of agricultural land in the locality.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hop – EVNSPC’s General Director said that EVNSPC had also deployed many projects of power supply for households in remote areas such as households without accessing to power, mainly Khmer people in Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Kien Giang Provinces. Facing with climate change, prolonged hot weather duration causing salinity and drought in many areas, EVNSPC has invested in power supply to ensure irrigation in the months of dry seasons in Binh Phuoc, Ninh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Lam Dong Provinces; invested in supply power for pumping stations to reduce salinity intrusion such as Ca Mau and Soc Trang Provinces.
EVNSPC has also developed and deployed the plan for power grid investment in the period of 2017-2020 to be invested under criteria No. 4 of rural electricity, investing in non-electricity far-reached, stopping the behind-the-meter connection in rural areas. EVNSPC has allocated about VND 85.05 billion to stop the behind-the-meter, auxiliary connection for 62,364 households in 21 provinces; deployed the project of supply power to rural areas from the national grid in 12 provinces and island communes of Kien Giang Province, integrated power supply of medium and small pumping stations in the Mekong River Delta, with the total investment of nearly VND 8,000 billion, the implementation period of 2016 - 2020.
