There should be special care program for customers participating in demand response

This is one of the directions made by Deputy General Director of EVN Vo Quang Lam at the meeting to review the implementation of Demand respond program (DR), organized on 21st March 2019, in order to encourage customers to participate in the program.

The DR program is implemented in order to encourage customers to actively reduce the demand for power supplied from the national power system when required, contributing to reduce the maximum capacity at peak hours of the system, lowering the frequency of overloaded power grid, improving the economic efficiency of the system.

Delivering the keynote address at the meeting, EVN’s Deputy General Director Vo Quang Lam emphasized that in 2019, the DR program implementation should be promoted to a large number of potential customers, mobilize the support and consensus from customers, creating a premise for implementing long-term programs under the National Program Strategy for Management of load demand in the period of 2018 - 2020, orientation to 2030 approved by the Government in Decision No. 279/QD-TTg dated 8th March 2018.

The Deputy General Director of EVN directed power corporations to soon complete developing special care programs, improve the quality of power supplied to customers participating in non-commercial DR program.

The Business Department of EVN continues to study, propose, coordinate with relevant Ministries, agencies and branches to develop financial mechanisms in commercial DR programs, bringing more benefits to customers.

Power member units throughout the EVN promote the power saving program, particularly in administrative and service-delivery units, hotels - restaurants. At the same time, modern technologies should be applied to timely review and alert customers in case of power over-consumption.

According to the Business Department, over the past time, EVN’s power corporations and companies have worked with People’s Committees, Departments of Industry and Trade in provinces and cities to coordinate in propagandizing and mobilizing customers using power for non-domestic purposes to participate in the DR program. Nearly 1,000 customers have registered to participate in the program.

Within 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm from 14th to 16th March 2019, EVN piloted DR events in some localities. Many customers in the program voluntarily participated in the DR events, which made a significant  contribution to reducing the tension on operating power system during peak hours.

By 30th April 2019, the power corporations are going to complete the signing of agreement to participate in non-commercial DR program for over 5,000 customers in the list of key energy users  with output power consumption of at least 3 million kWh/year.
